If you are under 45 years of age then these three words will probably mean nothing to you. If, on the other hand, you are truly a child of the 70s then it will no doubt bring childhood memories flooding back and probably have you wasting hours on YouTube.
Yes, this week we had the sad news that Gordon Murray, creator and puppeteer of the popular BBC children's series Trumpton, has died at the age of 95.
Trumpton was a trilogy along with Camblewick Green and latterly Chigley which gave us such memorable and endearing characters as Peter the Postman, Dr Mopp, Chippy Minton, Mrs Honeywell, Windy Miller and of course Trumptons resident firemen, Pugh, Pugh, Barney Mcgrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grub.
There is reference to it in the book (My Old Man’s A Busman) and a video clip of the most thrilling scene of all in one of the chapter headings on the website www.myoldmansabusman.com. Windy Miller walking through the sails of his windmill to get in and out…will he make it through safely? Oh ow we were on the edge of our seats.
